He was born in Athens in August 1958.
He studied drawing at the I. Oikonomidou School and went on to study ceramics at the Maroussi School of Ceramics under the guidance of An. Makaris, Men. Papadopoulos, and Ef. Papaioannou.
He has also attended a number of specialized seminars in contemporary ceramic techniques, including:High Salt firing with Richard Laumder, Paper Kiln with Aline Fayre, Raku Technique with Th. Chorafas and K. Tarkasis, Architectural Ceramics with Setsuko Nagasawa and Paper Clay with Rosette Gault.
In February 1986, he established his own studio, where he has since been creating artworks using clay — and occasionally other materials — as a medium for expressing emotions, thoughts, and inner contemplations.
Most of his works are crafted from unglazed clay bodies such as stoneware, porcelain, and red clay. Rather than relying heavily on color, he focuses on the raw texture of the material itself, which records every pressure, gesture, and imprint. His forms seem to briefly capture light before releasing it into the surrounding space — as if working in harmony with it.
His compositions often incorporate additional materials such as bronze, aluminum, wire, wood, and marble. Each material follows its own expressive path while contributing to the whole.
His subject matter is deeply human and introspective. His sculptural forms often embody emotions or ideas, giving “face” and “body” to the intangible. For him, transforming a feeling or a thought into a tangible figure is one of his favorite acts of artistic play.
