The Plus Art Gallery presents “Ode to Color”, the first solo exhibition in Greece of the internationally acclaimed Austrian painter Voka, at a private gallery.
The exhibition marks a significant moment in VOKA’s artistic journey — an artist with a strong international presence who, for more than twenty years, has connected his life and creative work with Greece, and particularly with Koroni, Messenia, where his Greek home and studio are located.
VOKA — An International Artist with a Greek Soul
Born in Austria in 1965, Voka has developed a highly personal and distinctive pictorial language. His work has been presented at prominent galleries and international art events in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, France, Portugal, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the United States, while his works are held in collections around the world.
The relationship between Voka and Greece is profound and deeply experiential.
From his youth, he visited Greece regularly, and gradually the country acquired a unique place in his life. In his studio in Koroni, he creates works inspired by Greece — from the distinctive Greek light and landscape to its people, faces, sea and the everyday moments of life in Messenia.
“Ode to Color”
The new exhibition “Ode to Color” seeks to illuminate precisely this dimension of Voka’s painting. In his work, color does not function merely as a means of representation. It is movement, emotion, energy and memory.
The exhibition thus becomes a meeting point between his European artistic journey and the Greece that has become an integral part of his life and his painting.
It includes works inspired by Greece, alongside a variety of references by a cosmopolitan artist to places and personalities from around the world.
